The IONTOPHORESIS can sometimes be helpful, and consists in the application of electricity in hands and armpits. Botulinum toxin (BOTOX) is also used in the form of local injections with variable results and short lasting effects, maximum 6 months.

WHAT IS SIMPATHECTOMY ?

The most effective treatment for HYPERHIDROSIS in  hands, armpit and face as well as  facial blushing is the THORACIC SIMPATHECTOMY. This surgical procedure is performed under general anesthesia and with minimally invasive techniques which allow a very fast recovery in an ambulatory environment with very low risks. The results of this surgery are excellent, particularly in the case of hands HYPERHIDROSIS and facial HYPERHIDROSIS, as well as for facial blushing. It is less successful in the treatment of HYPERHIDROSIS of the armpits with 60-70% of effectiveness. Among the side effects produced by the surgery, the main is the compensatory sweating, which affects the majority of patients. Even though  this side effect is rarely severe and the results of the surgery in the patients with HYPERHIDROSIS exceed the simple satisfaction.
